Toasting the Holiday Season with Affligem Noël

Authentic Belgium Abbey Christmas Ale Now Available for the Holiday Season

White Plains, NY - Affligem Noël, a true Belgian abbey Christmas Ale known for its rich, complex flavor, is now available for consumers looking to enjoy a unique and rich beer experience during the holidays. Especially brewed for the holiday season, Affligem Noël is only available a few months a year, making it the perfect compliment to holiday festivities and seasonal fare.

Affligem Noël is a dark, ruby red abbey beer that has the fresh aroma of wonderful spices, such as liquorice and orange zest. An intense, sweeter taste than the other products in the Affligem line, Affligem Noël has an alcohol content of 9% alcohol by volume.

"Affligem Noël is a very special seasonal beer that consumers eagerly await because of its distinctive spicy taste and bold, full bodied presentation," says Damiano Possenti, Star Brand Imports marketing manager for Affligem. "It is the perfect compliment to our year round selection of Affligem Blond, Dubbel and Tripel. We are pleased to once again offer Affligem Noël to our new and returning consumers this holiday season."

About Affligem:

Founded in 1074 by Benedictine monks, Affligem is the oldest abbey in Flanders. Artifacts indicate the abbey was brewing beer for pilgrims as early as 1129. Eight centuries later, a Friar Tobias married the traditional Affligem recipe with modern techniques. He called the result "Formula Antiqua Renovata". Following the Friar's rules, only all-natural ingredients are used: artesian well water and the finest hops and malt, while a fine dosage of yeast lets Affligem condition in the bottle.

The Abbey:

Although still standing, the abbey knows a long history of attacks and destruction, as it is situated on the border of East Flanders (French) and Brabant (Dutch oriented). During World War II, Hitler melted down the brewing vessels, which were re-molded into armaments. As World War II wound down, the monks decided to restart the brewing, ensuring that the abbey beers were brewed according to its authentic recipe.

Today:

Affligem is still brewed using the original recipe. Affligem beers are top fermented and bottled conditioned.
